Spotify Lossless Streaming Finally Nearing Launch

Spotify lossless streaming is nearly here, with FLAC support and a new headphone enhancement feature spotted in testing. Premium-only rollout expected soon.

Spotify is finally preparing to roll out lossless audio—a feature users have been waiting on for years.

🆕 What’s New:

Recent desktop app updates show “Lossless” appearing in audio settings, sitting alongside existing tiers like High and Very High. The new quality tier is labeled as:

  • FLAC format
  • Up to 1 GB/hour
  • 24-bit / 44.1 kHz

📡 Spotify Connect Integration

Lossless audio also appears in the Spotify Connect device menu, hinting at playback support on compatible device

🎧 Headphone Enhancer Feature

Spotify is also testing a new “Enhance Your Headphones” tool. Internally dubbed “puffin,” it seems to boost audio quality for certain headphone models using what Spotify calls “innovative technology.” A compatibility checker is built in.
